I wondered aloud on FB about a week ago if the season had already come down to “those four games in May,” (per Foote) and I was summarily rebuked and told that I needed to “take a deep breath” and “let the season play out.” Everyone was jumping the gun...the baseball season is a “marathon, not a sprint”.....we havent even begun conference play... etc... Well, at 6-10, following ANOTHER humiliating loss at home, and with 40 games left, we now need to go 34-6 to get to 40 wins, and 24-16 to even hit 30....how’s that “at large” bid looking??
Just a numbers update through 25 games:
2019--BA .251 R125 H209 SLG% .393, W-106 HP-41 K-211 OBP% .358 SB 48-64
2019 4.46 ERA IP 230.0 H 216, R 130 ER 114 BB 116 HP 31 K 194
2019: 11-14 (3-3 SBC)
2018: 11-14 (2-5 SBC)
I'll wait for Jay to come back to post the update for 2018 through 25 games.
Edit: Found the game notes through game 24, so close enough to compare.
2018--BA .212 R84 H163 SLG% .282, W-64 HP-21 K-203 OBP% .288 SB 24-33
2018 3.50 ERA IP 213.2 H 183, R 100 ER 83 BB 88 HP 47 K 172
Tony has been the our coach for 24 years. We have finished third or higher in our conference standings in 17 of those years. That means he has finished in the top three of our conference over 70% of the time.
