Actually it is a knock on our players. If we had better players we would win more games. It is true Marlin’s salary does not match the results, but it’s mostly because he has failed to have more than 5 good players at any one time. Recruiting is everything in basketball and we are unfortunately in a state that produces very few elite players. After LSU and the rest of the SEC picks through our traditional recruiting area we are left with mostly one dimensional or developmental players.
As CajunsMike has said, Marlin will be our coach for a couple more years. For him to make it he need to make UL the school Big12 and SEC players think of first when wanting to transfer, while also trying to find HS role players like Stove and Washington. Like it or not the days of us attracting a top flight HS players are not possible in today’s climate.
