Still, your view is becoming more common at almost every southern mid major regardless of success level. People are simply not as interested in the sport as they once were.
Another issue is the cost to show up. Between the $18 to sit in the second level and concession prices that rival Saints games, the quality of basketball against a bunch of no-names just doesn’t compliment consistent crowds. I just can’t justify spending money for a product that’s content with mediocrity. Until we start making more postseason appearances and show that we are serious about the program, I will definitely reconsider buying season tickets.

Concession prices are definitely a factor in attendance for basketball. Our administration and basketball folks realize that but have told me there is nothing they can do about it due to the Dome contract. I do wonder if folks running the Dome could be made to realize they are probably losing money with the current deal. Remember 2/3 of our basketball schedule is made up of conference opponents and there is little we can do about that in the short term. Steps have been taken to help the non conference schedule with the proposed conference alliances.

I’ve said it before, and it sort of sums up this whole argument and the “back and forth.” Cost has to match the quality of what we are paying for. Fans like Lannister and a few others feel that the money isn’t worth the product. It’s nothing against the players or the team, but if we are paying Marlin over a half million dollars, there needs to be more of a return. Hopefully, we can see that at the end of this season.

Mike you're constantly telling us that support, success, isn't much different than anywhere else in the South. Given that it seems we're now content to NOT be special because that's hard. Why then bother considering how expensive it is to attend a game and little hope for meaningful success.

Finally if that’s the case why bother paying Marlin, or anyone a big fat check?

And thats a big deal. Marlins wins are garbage. The mans getting paid like a king for the teams he puts on the court. Let me be clear. This is not a knock on our players. Ron Hunter could take our team last year and not only win the SBC tourney, but probably knock out a first round win.

    Big Fish wont... ever

Actually UAB won CUSA as the Muts lost the Championship game at home the week after they beat them.

So there you have it. Maggard needs to get with MTSU as they have the blueprints. How consistent this remains is yet to be seen.

We went all last year even convinced a bunch of people to go to the little rock game to help with the attendance to look good for brown (made me look like a fool) . It's not the players fault we are not attending it's the excuses as well as Mike Murphy's interview SLUed the deal for most of us .

Some are tired of being told it can't be done, look around nobody is doing it.

I prefer this Democrats view on the hard things.

CUSA had four 25 (or better) win teams and three 20 win teams. Fourth place Marshall won the automatic bid and beat WItchita State in the first round of the NCAA. A ONE BID CONFERENCE.

Middle and Western got NIT invites. UNT and USTA pay to play tournaments. 25 win ODU and 20 win UAB stayed home (article does not say if not invited or opted to stay home).

It doesn’t matter who we point out, it can’t be done here. That’s the message I get. It’s been preached repeatedly on this board by those who are close to Marlin.
