What is this effort you speak of? MSU scored a Touchdown every single time they got the ball when their starters were on the field. Are you proud of the effort the Cajuns showed once MSU pulled their starters in mop up duty?

I am not going to be proud of how the Cajuns played against backup players...especially when they got whooped so bad by MSU starters in the first half that their backup players were on the field for 80% of the second half.

Different coach same result. The defense looks decent on 1st and 2nd down but 3rd and long is a guaranteed 1st down. We will be lucky to win 5 games this year.

There is a difference between optimism and delusional.

It is delusional to make such a prediction for next year the day after your team was delivered a first class arse whipping in every facet of the game.

If no one was injured, it was a win. If we go 2-2 in September, it is a win. If we only give up 72 points to Bama, it is a win. If no one is injured against bama, it is a win. If we .......

It is what it is. I have accepted our purgatorial role as fans of the cajuns in the hope that when my time has come, God will give me credit for six decades or more of being a cajun fan and forget about a couple of missed Sunday masses.

Oh no, that is too far. Just get over it, get your arse up and get to mass.

I didn't really expect to see a win today but I am freakin' tired of watching the Cajuns get absolutely throttled every time they step on the field with anyone above a Sunbelt team. With this being a nationally televised game it makes it even worse.

Other Sunbelt programs are playing competitive games or even pulling upsets against P5 competition. Louisiana is officially being left in the dust by not one or two, but many other Sunbelt football programs.

MSU could have hung 100 points on the scoreboard if they would have wanted to. I don't care who the opponent is, giving up a TD every time the defense steps on the field in the first half is unforgivable.
What would you do if someone handed you the keys to a Ford Fiesta and asked you to win the Indy 500?

Correct, and a complete rebuild takes TIME.

I completely agree that we shouldn't overreact either way. I couldn't believe some of you fools were predicting a win just like I am disappointed we couldn't go in there and compete better than we did but I felt that our defense is in NO position to help us in a game like this.

However, I must say I hate when people say that this coach doesn't have HIS players. He has players and coaches he put in a position to see improvements. He has some returning talent on offense and you still have to coach those players. I am disappointed in our defense and our overall defensive approach. We are way too base to make any plays. We do not have the overall pass rushers to cover for our lack of a pass defense and our linebackers are average at best. However, Napier needs to get something going defensively and we need to be able to finish off drives and not stall when we start to approach the redzone. Very disappointing. You don't give him a pass because he doesn't have his players. You expect him to coach the players he has and improve from last year.
