_ true, but you present a false issue. someone earlier in this thread mentioned how the cajuns has just played "NU" and how great it was that everybody knows what that means. "NU" is the University of Nebraska--they switch it up a bit for NU, probably because something else is obviously known as the "UN." "OU" of the big 12? that school is the University of Oklahoma--they switch it around for their catchy acronym for whatever reason they chose. UL is, around the country, Louisville. There really is nobody known as "LU." You may not like LU, and frankly i don't much either, but the fact that the school is the university of louisiana at lafayette technically is not an impediment for trying it out. _

So I guess you'll be spending a good deal of your time informing the fans of the various OSU's, USC's, and even the LSU's that all but one have to change their popular acronym? The "you can't use UL because UL is Louisville" is about the stupidest argument you State fans have ever come up with. And thats saying a lot as you've come up with quite a few stupid arguments. And you've added a new one to the list tonight, "

Dude, SSM is a closet Cajun Fan, trust me. Just like the actors/actresses in Hollywood w/ conservative views, SSM would be banished from his circle of friends if he admitted it to anyone!

i don't care what your school calls itself. and i never said you "can't use UL." i have often been amazed that the 'name game' seems to be of more import than actual results of the sports' teams, but that's just me.

Yea right, another "I don't care what your school calls itself". But that never stops you from jumping into any discussion about it on this board. Spin it any way you want but the main thrust of your message always comes through clearly.

Not sure but I was liking the post. Finally had some people on the LU train (even though it will never happen). It's not even under my subscribed threads.

Even if we stay as UL, I rather the reversed interlocking UL.....just need to put the L in front of the U rather than U in front of the L. It reminds me more of the old USL hats that resembled the Cardinals hats.

In the end, I think our main focus should be on trying to get the Lafayette part of the name dropped. UL does have a good ring to it but, I'm sure everyone would agree that ULL does not.

Bottom line is whoever is in charge of logos and licensing (Julie Dronet?) needs to not give radio, tv, etc. the option of names to use. We need to tell them to use one of our many names that we see on tv. Whether it be UL, Louisiana, ULL, UL Lafayette, etc. Same goes for what logo is used on tv. It's ok to have seperate logos that each sport uses, but I don't want to watch 2 football games on tv during the season and for one game you see the Ragin Cajuns hotwheels symbol and on another you see the interlocking UL. It is small things like this that will hold us back from getting the name recognition we all want.
