Did he recieve a scholarship to go to STM or did his parents pay tuition? What are the rules here? Can anyone pay the tuition for him?

I can't speak for him, but private schools typically have a "booster" pay the tuition on their behalf. Scholarships are not allowed in HS. Sometimes parents are also provided employment and the parents pay the tuition. This is common in the New Orleans area. The bottom line is there are a few loopholes available for free or reduced tuition if an athlete wants to attend a private school in LA.

STM offers after school work programs for financial assistance...and there’s plenty of kids who are not athletes that are part of the program...but no one ever wants to acknowledge that when having this discussion...

Come on people, surely there is a high school forum that ya'll can argue about those issues. For UL recruits, it does not matter that what elementary school these kids attended.

    Good Grief!

Javon Walker lived one block from Northside before attending STM. His family lived on the Northside of Lafayette.

That's amazing because he lived one block from Northside HS before attending STM.

Both schoools, STM and Teurlings recruit athletes at times. There are always kids that are eligible for assistance especially when a family has a number of children in the Catholic school system but can't afford to pay for all of them to attend.

D'Shaie Landors and Dylan Bossier were at Carencro Middle before Sonny recruited them to Teurlings HS. My son played with both at Teurlings. Kelley was at STM before ending up at Teurlings and Jace Conrad was at STM via Cathedral before ending up at Lafayette HS. We played them in middle school and he played RB, was their best athlete.

Again, I don't get caught up in recruiting now because it's not a major factor in either program's success. And people seem to forget how Barousse recruited Northside's HS school zone while winning at Carencro. He tried to recruit Nick Dugas from Crowley his senior year and Trev Faulk from Lafayette HS.
