If you are planning to make changes why wait for a certain time of the year? Now is as good as after the CWS. Release and start looking. If you wait another month are two that's lest time before the 2019 season starts, that's lest time to evaluate and hire. Robe is not one to fire. Waiting for one to say I'm gone, get someone else.

What if their target is still coaching in the CWS?

No rule, (I don't think) by the NCAA saying you can't contact a coach during the CWS if that's your contention and you want to make a move, which at this point I think it's doubtful.

I’d hope Robe is looking for someone proven in order to turn things around now. He shouldn’t, in my opinion, have the option of missing again this year. The financial impact would be detrimental to the program.
