High School coaches can’t do it ?
Gary Broadhead ? Art Briles ?
Tim Leger ? Mike Desormeaux? Matt Viator?
Rickey Broussard? Lewis Cook ? Tommy Tate ? Tim Rebowe ? Hugh Freeze ? Gus Malzohn ? Head Coach of the World Champions Philadelphia Eagles Doug Pederson were all high school coaches . These are just some off the top of my head.

Well, how many of those coaches you named went straight to college as a HC? Yeah, no thanks. I'd rather Byron Starks over all of those others because we at least know he can recruit.

One draw back to this is once teams are out of contention....do they give their best effort and skew the potential real results?....

I think this year was the exception, not the norm in terms of winning margin by one team. Granted, yes there are the bottom half teams in the league who would be out of the running by mid February but I think there would still be intrigue in following the title race. However, with all the money thrown into TV contracts for conference tournaments and the impact of that tournament week, this will likely never happen.

So, 25-30 wins with a regular season conference title which would make us two time defending conference champs but we unfortunately get bounced out of the SBC tournament. You are saying that Marlin should be fired and you will not come back to watch a game until he is if this scenario plays out?

.....and you sir get the reward for correct observation.....take all those guys and have them compete in any sport......the best record over an extended period would be the coach who was using the best talent.....yes there are exceptions, but the better players win!!,

I would much prefer teams try like crazy at the start of the season with stragglers playing spoiler at the end of the regular season.

Tournament appearance should be the reward, also-rans pulling the tournament upset is not valuably rewarding.

I would be ok with a final 4 for the tournament. The regular season could be a lot more interesting as the teams try like hell to get in. Obviously, coaches would hate it because making the final 4 would be difficult. Lower conferences have to make the regular season more meaningful so they can boost attendance.

I’m pretty certain this will never happen but I really wish the conference tourney would be done away with and let the reg season champ be the automatic qualifier. To me...what u do over the long haul is more of an accurate gauge of who the best team is, as opposed to who gets hot over a 3-4 day period. Especially in a 1 bid league

its the same logic as getting rid of the ncaa's then. just crown the team with the best record and not have a tourney.

i will say im in favor of maybe just the top 4 or 6 from conference going to a conference tourney, but we still need the tourney.

You and Cajun Proud are the only ones I recall indicating we should make a change now. In fact Cajun Proud may have said he would wait another year to make a decision. Others have pointed out what they believe are improvement needs strongly but that is different than advocating a change. Everyone has a right to an opinion and the freedom to express it. Just realize that view is held by very few others and that it has no impact whatsoever on decisions to be made
