The schedule is what it is. If we do not win the tournament I feel we should not get an at large bid. I don’t think the committee will want to give a weak conference like ours a second bid. The fact we have no signature wins will be our ultimate undoing. That said, we have an incredibly easy path to get into the tournament. We will be favored in every game and will have a relative home field advantage in the tournament. This weekend is all about seeding. Two wins and a 12 seed becomes a real possibility.
Don't forget that a regular season title gets you into the NIT. The NIT now seeds teams. We could get a home game against a school from a major conference in such a scenario. Of course the NCAA is better and is the goal. As far as getting an at large goes, there have been plenty of teams with seasons similar to ours that have not gotten into the tournament. That is the life of a mid major. Regarding the "home field" advantage of the conference tournament, our support has been lackluster there the last couple of years. We did have good support in the 2014 finals. I suspect it will be better this year due to the special season and the administration is making a big push to get fans there. Key is to win that first game. We have better depth than most of the competition which should help as the tourney goes along. I also think we can have good support if we get to Saturday. Ride is easy enough you can make two day trips on Saturday and Sunday. Of course home baseball games may be a conflict but in the big scheme of things, that basketball tournament could be one of the most important athletic events we have participated in a long time.
They're doing discounted tickets. Game is nearly sold out.
