I agree with Crazy. At 18 to 21 years old, road trips are fun. They are at an age where it is still exciting to be out and about with their buddies and staying in a hotel that someone else is paying for, and getting team meals that someone else is paying for. To me, getting in at midnight is a non-issue in this case.

I promise coaches are much more worried about what their players are doing and proper rest when they are at home than when they are on the road in a controlled environment..or they should be.

The prediction of some about a 50/50 split had nothing to do with "better team" and nothing to do with lowering expectations. Everyone who has ever followed sports knows that road swings cause losses. Home field advantage was not a term invented to lower expectations. It exists because of years and years of studying win/loss records.

A UL win will not be an upset, but you still want to stack as many things in your favor as you can.

As good as this team appears to be, I still think Dwayne Mitchell, Orien Greene and company would destroy them.

Didn’t say it was out of line, it’s ridiculous not not out of line.I can tell you where some of our best teams and most exciting players in basketball were on Friday nights before games at 3am and it wasn’t at home getting rest. Either some of you had really lame college years or you forgot what you could put your body and mind through at 18-22 years old. They probably get more rest on the road

I didn't forget. As a matter of fact, I still try to do it. I actually played better a little hung over. I do think those road trips can hurt a little bit, because you're out of your routine, opposing gym, etc. I'm with you on having higher expectations this year. I don't expect them to roll over and I do expect them to be prepared. When they miss 3's tonight, I hope they play smart.

Ironically I always played better when I had a little fun the night before too. I agree that long road trips can take a toll. If our plane got cancelled to NMSU, WKU,App or CCU and had to take a bus I could maybe buy into that...not to Arlington Texas. They stare at their phones, watch Netflix and play video games for longer continuous periods of time than that. If we lose tonight it won’t be because of a bus ride. Imagine Mark Hudspeth saying we lost to north Texas or Texas state because we had to take a bus and got in at midnight...I’d imagine that would go over well. It’s not like they just pulled in straight for warmups.

When they were expected to get a full nights sleep many were hoping for a 50/50 split.

I never expect a loss. That’s unreasonable, but I expect to win every game we play on game day. Preseason not so much

Last year we lost by 30 on the road to UTA and beat them at home on Senior night. There is a big difference in playing on the road and at home. They also had to bus in versus flying in. This can really make you lose your legs, at least at first. When we used to have to drive 45 minutes away, we were lethargic and had a noticeable difference in our energy. This is not an excuse but a fact. UTA is playing a step faster, especially on defense and its showed. We have to regroup. Good teams come back when down on the road. I'm expecting the same.

Of course, anybody who's played at a competitive level knows that road travel takes something out of you.
