I think the red surround on those letters fall on the 38 and 42, or 12 yards each side of the 50. I'm sure that's what they were shooting for as it centers the lettering.

They measure Edge to tip instead of looking at it optically.

It's balanced. The logo includes the borders. Both end at start on the same yard line. Symmetry is intact for the next decade.

It's the rubber pellets...they haven't settled yet. Notice the machine brushing them in on the last pic.
