Regarding the deal with the Saints, the deal for the turf comes to us at a savings in excess of 300 thousand dollars compared to buying this on the open market. Dr. Authement stated donations are quite valuable as scholarship costs have increased over 30% in the last few years.

if i would.. i am then replying to a "cut and pasted" quote from another message board.. many points of "cloudiness" in that by itself..

the quoted bit was cajunsmike's in what he heard..

and.. even though in my "girling" .. i have come to believe on the "positive side" that cajunsmike does somewhat of a good j.o.b. of getting to the table, what he got in the kitchen.. myself, not being there.. when i first read what cajunsmike wrote.. i did give "whomever" was speaking this to cajunsmike.. (he did not clearly alert me to who said what) the latitude that by even the slighest chance cajunsmike might not have it 100% on the nose..

let me be clear.. the statement i cut and pasted is the only one i care to or did reply to on the site and thread "newscopy" cut from.. (btw, even though newscopy has 10 "rep pts".. newscopy is (still) an unknown quantity at this point .. i just get a kick out of that (grins)

i am replying now, in that, i ran into a friend of mine and when this - 300K savings- was brought up.. the fellow's thinking was maybe it wasn't the turf, but savings on the black-topping of the road..

although, a dear friend, i think i will go with cajunsmike's writing.. since i know the "language" and the quote - un-quote "the picture best painted"

i am glad this has been, in some slight way moved over here.. as .. i am a turbine of turbine

ps. a good friday to all

no doubt, if all that is involved is subtracting 30K from 400K (grins)

I am fairly certain that the 300 M$ savings I heard Nelson address was in relation to the turf for the practice facility.

hey buddy.. i hoped to have expressed my thinking that i have a serious degree of faith in any summary of the chief points or thoughts you give that you have heard.. and i thank you for this.. bil

ps. of course my "inkling" into this "300K savings" .. is that it might cost at least a nickel or 2 to drive it over here (tee-hee)

here is the press release from the manufacturer of what i think was purchased from july 2004..

    Superdome Goes With Sportexe!

"It’s different than other systems – It’s better!"
    – Doug Thornton, General Manager, Louisiana Superdome

The Louisiana Superdome, one of the nation’s most elite football venues, has selected Momentum™ turf system, by Sportexe as its new synthetic turf surface.

The new turf system, which is being installed at the Superdome this summer, was chosen for its proven performance and quality attributes, said Doug Thornton, general manager of the Louisiana Superdome.

He said Momentum™ was chosen after considerable research and review of various turf products. “We feel strongly that Momentum™ is the right surface for the Superdome,” said Thornton. “We were seeking – and found in Momentum™ -- a proven, high performance system for the caliber of games we’re hosting this fall.”

In addition to the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl Classic, the Superdome is home to the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, and Tulane University’s Green Wave. The storied stadium also hosts the Bayou Classic, the Wyndham New Orleans Bowl, and Louisiana’s high school football championships.

“We need topnotch technology to ensure we’re providing all these teams the high performance and safety attributes they require for their level of play,” said Thornton.

“We’re impressed with the high quality make-up of Momentum™ turf -- its sewn seams, special backing, denser face weight, etc.

“It’s different than other systems – it’s better,” he added.

Thornton also said he and others at the Superdome were impressed that Momentum™ has been installed by the Baltimore Ravens, University of California – Berkeley, the University of Alabama and other professional and collegiate teams.

“We’re confident this turf will meet our high expectations. Our choice was reaffirmed by these teams, and by Sportexe’s reputation for quality,” said Thornton.

He said his interaction with the company has already been positive, very professional.

According to Sportexe president Mark Nicholls, Momentum™ is slated to be ready in time for the Saints’ first preseason home game (August 13).

Nicholls added, “It will be exciting for all of us at Sportexe to watch the Nokia Sugar Bowl, The Saints’ games, and these other great events on our turf. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our people that our product has been chosen for this elite facility.”

Nicholls added, “It will be exciting for all of us at Sportexe to watch the Nokia Sugar Bowl, The Saints’ games, and these other great events on our turf. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our people that our product has been chosen for this elite facility.”
"and we are proud our turf was sold for 30 K a year later" .. (grins)

Ragin' Cajuns Coming Soon in June!!!

Had lunch with Gerald today, here is two bits of news!

    1) The parking lot at Cajun Field that is now asphalt and the roads leading into(thoughout) the complex will be repaved this JUNE! Done Deal!

    2) As you know we have purchased the Saints turf for some $30,000 dollars, it must be shipped out of New Orleans by the end of June.
    a) Where do we store it while waiting for the INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY to be built? I suggested Schillings Distributors OLD buildings!!
    b) How does it get trucked here to Cajun Land? It is to take 16+ 18 Wheelers as per Gerald and I's conversation today! Pepsi owner will donate some of his trucks, men and fuel, as will I! I am sure there is other trucking that would spare a truck, driver and fuel for this great cause! A police escort will be made available if deemed necessary!! Media will be invited as the Trucks roll out and the in with the TURF!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this the same 2004 Turf that LSU won it's national championship on??????
Dear God, LET IT BE. During prictice our players get to spit on it all day long. OH THE IRONY..... OH THE JUSTICE. Just think how much those Ashwholes would pay to have a door mat made out of that or even better a piece to put in their National CO-Champ shrine. Paint that thing Vermillion and White and go to work tearing it up Cajuns.
