2002 Origin Story for the UL Hand Sign
Im working on a concept to get some kind of hand sign adopted by UL. UL has nothing and needs something.
I love You hand sign
Two hands each making an L back to back ULL
One L for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns like we have been suggesting to Gerald Hebert.
Do nothing
UL ROCKS... CC Brown does the Hand Sign

Give the .gif a second.
I suggest UL adopt this hand, sign wholesale, I spent Spring day showing a bunch of involved students and players how to do the " I Love UL" hand sign. I'm going to do the same thing for Media. Day.
Should I order stickers and foam hands?
Re: Should I work on I Love You hand sign for UL?
In my search today for Spirit leader polls, I came across this from 2002.
It wasn't started with university approval
Re: Should I work on I Love You hand sign for UL?
And the University stole the idea. ;)

……think the fans help but can add so much more….the playing of the Alma mater with a packed stadium of students and alumni raising the right arm with the UL showing forth with the hand sign…..chills to all!!!……and the fight song conclusion “Geaux UL”!!!!!

At media day 2002 not a single football player or coach knew about it. I showed Tillman after I took this picture.

I can assure you there were players doing this in 99-00. (Insert attendance joke here)
A particular DE from Tampa, FL is the first that showed me and others. This particular player graduated before 2002
Back to your main point , yes this was definitely an organic thing that did not originate from the “marketing and communications department” of the university

I showed CC Brown at media day and he was the very first player to do.
He ran out the tunnel with both hands in the air both doing the UL hand sign with both hands

Turbs, you’re the man but CC Brown wasn’t on the team until 03 season. He was in juco during the 02 season. I have pictures of players doing this before he was on the team
Re: Should I work on I Love You hand sign for UL?
I showed the hand sign to the painted GOUL guys and I got them to pose all showing it.
I showed it to Cayenne (El Sidonio on RP) at a Tennis match (out of costume) He started doing it at games.
I use to stand in the tunnel after games holding the UL hand sign up and the football players would shoot it back.
However, I have almost six thousand pictures I took at practice, events, media day, post game, between 1999 and 2003 and not one player or fan was showing the UL hand sign.
I have thousands more pictures I took from 2004 to 2008 before David Walker kicked me out. By then it had caught on nd I have lots of UL hand signs in those years.

Thank you sir for helping push this along. (I still stand by my first hand experience on this)
Were you part of the media during that time?
