Thanks and yes, but how few know this?
We're has this been promoted?
Where is the big push, and when was it or will it be?

UL doesn’t have half @$$ fans or fully vested fans coming out the wazoo. That has nothing to do with parking. UL has a much better parking situation than any other sunbelt school for the casual fan that doesn’t want to pay. Let’s suppose they did open up some area inside the gates of Cajun field for a fee of 15 to 20 bucks. Then they would b!+(h and moan about having to pay and not show up.
That’s on the RCAF website. I don’t think there ever was a big push for 100 dollar donors. They obviously want more than the minimum. The 100 dollar level is for those folks that basically join for the parking. Not exactly what you hire staff to go out and sell unless you want to starve. Yes. 100 is better than nothing but won’t pay the bills in the long run.
But you are correct needs to be a bigger push in general for RCAF membership. Let’s fill up the parking lot with RCAF members of all levels.
Exactly !! What happens I’ve been saying you have to bring the fans inside Cajun Field! Give them a spot and they will come , average fan is not going to hand over 1,000 dollars, but if they come to the game and there is a spot for commoners and stuff they will come.
Those fans are welcome to park in said parking spots for a very modest donation. Spots inside of Cajun field gates should NEVER be FREE. If they don’t want to give the donation then I have great news for them. They have the best free parking situation in all of FBS directly across the street.
I do agree with the fact that there has to be more offered to the casual fan on a first come first serve basis. If we are to grow the fan base like most of us want, it’s time to start thinking out side the box and create new areas with a party atmosphere, that people will want to attend. There isn’t enough space in the gates to create that and grow the fan base as we would like. And I am also a firm believer that every thing inside the gates tailgating and parking wise should have a price on it. Maybe they could do a better job of selling single game spots in the unsold TG area, for those that want to just go to a game or 2.
I’ve mentioned before but will again for context. 3 of our boys are fairly recent Texas State graduates. When my wife and I go to a game we park quite a distance from the stadium for free. MUCH further than the distance across Congress. Daily rate parking is $20 close to the softball and basketball facilities, distance very comparable to parking across Congress. Fans have it very good for UL Football compared to most equivalent programs.
For many people, its not about the money. Its about principle. I used to donate a whole lot more to the RCAF. When they start taking away benefits like parking passes and now give me a "earn the right" message, they lost way more than the $60 worth of parking passes.
I now do the minimum just like the administration and RCAF executives.
I agree that our parking situation is way better than most stadiums. Its simple economics. As long as I walk by empty parking spots inside Cajun Field, I will continue to walk a little further for free.
Also how many schools give students free admission just with ID.... (and even if it were free, the availability wouldn't be there for any student who wants)
P.s. how will electronic only affect the student ID entrance process?
The problem is not the walking it’s not anything it just puts a bad taste inside peoples mouth when they cross over and all you see is a bunch of empty parking!
Here you are parking across congress just to park when they would of paid 20 bucks just to park at Cajun Field.
It’s like ULM no one is complaining about the 10 dollar parking because when you go there it is filled closest to the stadium
$20 should be a good number. Probably with a “designated” location for game day parking. I think the idea of having game tickets is good. But I’d be fine without them too. Still $$ in athletic department’s coffers.
Probably “too hard” for UL to handle though ….. ;)
Yup.
If simply seeing empty parking spaces is a turn-off, I'd give folks with pre-purchased single game tickets access to the parking adjacent to Cajun Field.
My personal experience is there is more than a handful of folks who are tailgating but not going to the games. So I'd hate to simply give these folks parking just to go tailgate.
At least if they are buying tickets, you are getting (even faux) butts in the stands.
Congratulations you just killed the RCAF. Many members of the RCAF lower levels of 500 and less are members just to be able to do things like buy tailgate spots and or parking passes for Cajun Field. You give free access to that with just a ticket in hand there is no longer that incentive to join the RCAF. Membership would dwindle down over night.
This is the wrong approach. When we had our best attendance it was during the years the tailgate area was packed with people "just going to tailgate". I never had an extra ticket go unused during those years , gave away all 5 every game and usually ahd to hunt down more. Ever since we chased off the "just tailgate crowd" i couldnt give away tickets, would let me buddy use them to get abck in after he went smoke cigarettes. You have to get them in the gate if you want a chance to get them in the stadium. Who cares if people stay outside or go home, if we get back to 25k a game why does it matter? what we are doing is not working. Trying to force people isnt working, hasnt worked since we started trying it.
