Reception honors Cajuns’ hoops coach
LOUISIANA La. - Robert Lee got a warm welcome as University of Louisiana’s new men’s head basketball coach on Tuesday as dozens of friends, fellow coaches, fans and university employees gathered for a reception at the Cajundome.
“I’m glad he was named because I think he’s earned the position,” said Sherri Guidry of Opelousas. “He’s qualified, and I’m honored he has the position.”
Lee had a successful four-year stint as the head coach at Opelousas High School in the 1990s before joining the UL Lafayette program, where he has served as an assistant for eight years.
“I’m so excited for him,” Assistant Athletic Director Sherry LeBas said. “You couldn’t ask for a more dedicated, hard-working, loyal person than Robert.
