Not playing in the last game at Little Rock when we had a big lead probably discouraged him a little. Looking down the road he was not going to play much even after Bryce left due to Miller's development and Gant being eligible next year. Some think Gant is the best player on the team and could challenge for conference player of year honors. Scottie probably saw this and figured he wanted to get more from his college career. I have seen him at some team functions and he got along great with his teammates. I am sure this was a hard decision for him but I understand why he did it. I join with everyone in wishing him the best going forward.
Cali, this is common in college basketball today. The kid simply was not going to play much more than he has in the remainder of his career here due to the fact there are more talented players in front of him and it will be even more so next year. This is different than the situation you describe when you "got it" right before they pulled the plug. It is not that Scottie Plaisance does not get it, he simply does not have enough god given talent to play more on this squad.
OK---my funniest quitting story---There is an individual in my coaching days that decided to hang it up very early---His parents come and I am still trying to get him to stick it out---finally the "I love you and the program coach and the rest of the BS (but)"---His initials were A D and went by that name---as he leaves I am pizzed ---but not my buddy coach ---he smiles and says ADios---I fall to the ground laughing!!!
