Just don't believe we've got anyone who can consistently separate or deliver the ball.

Fat out of shape linemen cant pass block. Simple as that.
Baffled me too. And that was a true deep ball... down the middle. We then threw passes short of a first on 3rd down. I'd rather see us at least get intermediate passes attempted. I think Hud likes seeing Coutts punt so much that he prefers it to a deep ball. I don't even see signs that our staff has our OL and Jennings on timed snaps for pass protection and intermediate to deep passing. The obsession with keeping everything low risk has allowed defenses to tee off on us and has virtually neutered our offense. Hud went in the wrong direction last year... and he's doing it again this year. When things don't work... he limits the offense to what he considers simple plays that we can supposedly execute cleanly and without great risk. He's wrong. Defenses capitalize on simplicity... unless you're physically substantially more dominant. We are not. We must go with greater risk and complexity... even if it occasionally bites us in the ___.
Scheme. If you don't think we've had talented WR in this program who can separate from defenders you're wrong.
Our passing game concepts are rudimentary and high school level. You can't just run routes because they look good on paper. They have to have a purpose. We run routes with no purpose.
If your HC's idea of a passing game is running and turning around for a jump ball what do you want them to do? Run a timing route? That our QB either can't or will never throw? We do the same thing over and over every single game...the other teams watches film too you know. Most of the time the best athletes on the field are DB's, you aren't just gonna out athlete them everytime. You have to move them with your route tree and try to confuse them into seeing something they aren't...throw people open etc...we do zero of that....ZERO. How is a WR supposed to separate on a 1 yard out route at the sideline?
