The two time outs we smoked on defense the first series had me cussing...
I see what most of you are stating. Besides it being a completely different level of opponent, we did improve from week 1 to 2. But the key to sniffing at a better than .500 season is serious improvement from this point forward. Our best experienced athletes and the very talented inexperienced guys have to start cleaning up play and feeling like an instinctive machine.
Last night's game, although I hate to make out a win against an FCS program as important, may have been what the doctor ordered for our team. I doubt the team feels cocky about it. Lucas has a lot to do to make this defense function better. Jennings is a serious addition to our offense, and we could start seeing some skill talent explode before our eyes.
One hard fought game at a time.
That was Goodlet and I was so confused as to why he was starting at the CB spot. McCollum looked really good last week and I figured he and Simeon T would be the starters along with Savion Brown perhaps. They went at him all night. Not sure why he was defending their top WR.
I'm afraid the Nixon experiment is going to continue indefinitely. Just as one would think, if everyone knows he's coming in to run in short yardage situations it's not going to work very often. jmo
Bigger doesn't do anything for you when you can't block anybody and we didn't do a great job early on just like the Boise game. We also allowed them to march down the field on their first possession like we weren't there. Glad you were so sure because when I saw them go up on us early 3rd quarter, I had that feeling like I did when we played La Tech a couple years ago.
The lightning saved them and gave a much needed chance to recover. They were gassed
No, which is why they need to pass with him in there as well. He's an adequate passer, certainly in the wildcat formation when most teams will think he's coming in to run. A nice playaction roll out or bootleg would do wonders here and help keep teams off balance and he'd get a lot of single coverage looks to throw to.
