I was talking about this the other day. Even something as simple as moving the lights off the roof and onto trusses lower and closer to the floor (about even with the hockey nets) would go a really long way to helping improve the atmosphere. It would darken the 300 level seats and would help focus the eye toward the court. With all the money they're spending on new lighting, just spending a few bucks more on trusses would make a huge difference.

Exactly, we are a SBC basketball team not an ACC or Big East. We do not need 15k seats, we only need about 5k seats available to make a great basketball atmosphere in the SBC.

It also allows more opportunities to capitalize on prime seating options.

I agree they should promote the lower seating but I'm not a fan of closing off the upper sideline seating to season ticket holders.

Curtains around section 300 seats would work and if we got a prime opponent in like we had in the early 90s (UCONN or Maryland I think?) they could still sell the 300 section tickets.

I also states in that article that they will start to re-do the roof early next year...around March. Can't come soon enough for that...I live nearby so that have to see that ugly roof on a weekly basis.

But then again, what will little Germdawg do, since he will have one less pic to take of our campus, LOL.

I think it's punishment enough for Germdawg that he's forced to work in Lafayette instead of metropolitan Ruston.

I agree 100%, we need to find a way to maximize the fan experience for basketball. That would carry over to Ice Gators hockey and any other sport that is brought into the dome.

Currently extra capacity is only used for very select events (concerts).
