And they do not need to happen until the off season. The tours Hud has been talking about was for all the insiders. I'm not sure how you avoid those---there is a political nature to all of this. But if HUD thought they were a distraction he should have stopped them or removed his team from the distraction.
oh okay then, i just remember people making snide remarks with tours they've gone on and someone brought boeing, maybe. i thought they alluded to being able to put on a tour throughout the day and not distracting the people that were in the building. i may have read wrong.

This is just my opinion, and I dont know a thing for sure, but I think this might be the folks he was directing most of that to.

Right...it CAN be done. It is done EVERY DAY all over the place. Evidently it was not done that well here. The point is, and was, that it CAN be done. If that means for us after the season, so be it. That is what was said. The original question was only will they happen. As in ever. Not that they have to happen now. If the only way to do them in our facility is after the season, that is Hud and the coaches job to determine. And NOBODY had a problem with that.

Again, it is Hud's job to stop it if it's a problem. To blame the tours is pretty freaking lame.

so all those complaints last week about tours were about hypothetical tours that may happen in 3 months from now? Charlie, Im not buying it. you may have only asked about when. But when someone brought up Boeing (i dont remember who and dont feel like looking) their main complaint was that tours should be given now, and that it wouldnt be a distraction. if the only question was about when, then the compaints wouldnt have come out. there would be nothing to complain about, unless someone came out and officially said even after the season ends, there will be no tours. i would agree with the complainers then. people are complaining now bc tours arent happening already. but no official capacity has come out stating that no tours were happening after the season, so what is there to complain about?

Literally nobody was complaining. The whole nonsense started with a question of if they would happen. As in at all. Then several said they would not, because it was impossible to do it without it being a distraction. That was debated, but clearly it can be done...as many others have shown. However, everybody agreed that if after the season, or in off time was better then that was fine too. There I just summarized the whole thing for you. Nobody was complaining, just arguing over if and how they could happen at all.

Clearly UL can't manage it....so the answer is off season or never.

You're right & wrong. I agree that Hud should have the right to shut the building down to a lot of outside distractions going on. And he should have done that from the beginning of the move into the place. But you are dead wrong in saying that building belongs to the program, & not to you & me. Speak for yourself, but the money that a lot of people like myself put into the program is what built, & will pay for that building. So in essence we are as much a part of the program as anyone not wearing a player's uniform. Personally I made a conscious effort to stay away until I knew everything was completed, & had been moved into, & it wouldn't be a distraction to the team to go see the digs. But I expect that one day after the season is over, I'll go ask for, & get permission to tour the facilities for myself. Because as a pretty good size contributor to the program for the last five years, I definitely feel a sense of ownership of what this program, this coaching staff, & this team has been able to accomplish over the past four seasons. And if they go whip LTU's behinds this Saturday, I'm pretty sure not too many people will give a good crap about what happened this past Saturday. On the other hand, if they get whipped again, the feedback will be justifiably negative with good reason.

I pay taxes every year. Do you think the secret service will allow me to walk into the White House any time I want?

I sincerely hope he will clarify his remarks in the presser today and take ownership for this loss. Making excuses and skirting blame is something that can be contagious, to the players
In total agreement with this. He 'saw it coming' and didn't properly adjust for it. This is exactly what the head coach is supposed to do, manage distractions. And we always lose a game we are supposed to win due to some coaching oversite. How are we supposed to get better each season, if there is always a brain fart game?

Give without expecting anything in return (not even a thank you). That is unconditional kindness ... everything else is ego ....Timber Hawkeye

I give because the University helped me see the opportunities in front of and some how I was smart enough to take them. I give to help the University expand which in turns drive this towns economy. A strong UL make a strong Lafayette. Not to see my name in a book, or on a building as some "good size contributor".
