We then won three SBC games in the tourney.

So, going into the Big Dance, we have won 11 of our last 13 games. Including every game at home and on a neutral court.

Our losses at home last year to WKU and Georgia State came right when Bryant came off his injury. If Bob gets the blame for this season and other, he should also get credit for the things he does correctly. And, last year, at the end of the season, we were the best team in the SBC.
Mbamalu was the leader this year's team is missing. He graduated on Saturday with a high GPA. Congratulations to him. We need someone to develop into the leader he was.

I knew Hudspeth was the guy the second he walked up to the podium.

Bustle was a tough one. Knowing where we came from after the toothpick, he deserved a little more time. I actually think he was given ample time and the second 3 win season did him in. Outside of W-L records, you don't see hudspeth doing any hampton toyota commercials...

That is exactly my point. I knew Bustle wasn't the guy when we lost to McNeese.

I was never on board with Bob Marlin, I don't like the model that we used for this basketball hire. It is a different animal all together than football. I knew that we were in trouble when the JJ Thomas/Raymone Andrews situation happened. These were his players, and when he lost the locker room I began having my doubts.

I honestly think that last season will end up being an outlier and not the norm. We have just been consistently inconsistent throughout his tenure.

Robert Lee's restart was forced upon him and he lost the ship.

Marlin's restart was highly influenced by the preexisting hostage situation.

Raymone Andrews was a Robert Lee kid.

......Well if the subject is losing to poor teams ........ we were fortunate to beat a Ga State that I think is the worst rated team in the country!!! Yea I just checked and they are ranked LAST.....we won by 3!!!

And if the next coach needs a restart , he will find/create the situation needed. Were you in those meetings? Or is that what was said to justify the restarts? If we don't give the next guy will it be grounds for a lawsuit because didn't award the next coach the same chance as the others... Sound familiar? Marlin hired the guy that leading the hostage takeover, to me that's on him. Lee brought in a ton of transfers that failed, then was given a chance to right the ship and couldn't. I'm still not sold on marlin but I'm certainly not saying he isn't the guy... But I don't buy the whole this is year 3 stuff. It's year 5, he isn't going anywhere for at least 2 years no matter what IMO so I guess we will see. The administration better be careful allowing the coaches to open Pandora's box to hit the restart button.

Bustle never had that successful season that he could build on. Marlin had a 23-12 season losing 7 in conference. We all think this team has the talent to run thru the conference with only 2 or 3 losses. If that happens, we end up with a better record than last year. It could not happen, and we play .500 ball in conference. He should be on the hot seat. I'll carry the torch with you. Gotta see how the season plays out. He goes to the dance back to back and then we look at next season in it's entirety.

I know one thing about marlin's coaching style. You are going to play team basketball and this me-me-me crap doesn't fly. It's real easy to agree to it when marlin is sitting on these teenagers' couches recruiting them. It's different when you get to campus. I fully expect Marlin to miss on some guys. I watch my 14 year old nephew play and all of their games are polluted ball hogs and me-guys. A good program gets 5 of those stars and some have to become role players. 1 out of 5 won't like that and if they aren't the guy, they will become a cancer and need to be disposed of.

Marlin's bad hire was a separate situation.

Robert Lee's program was the one held hostage by players he couldn't get rid of because of the AD induced purge that put UL on the APR brink.

Marlin just inherited the I can do what I want attitude brought on by Robert's situation.

No, the bad hire brought in bad guys then grabbed a couple that were here and turned on him... But it was his hire. If some of you can't step away and see that's it sure does seen like a lot of excuses, free passes, yeah buts then I don't think we will agree on anything. If we don't perform this year, who wants to take bets it's shawn long's fault and not bob marlins? Robert lee and bob marlin coach a sport with more winning tradition at this school than any new hire of any other sport combined, a sport that is the easiest to turn around... Keep that in mind. People are saying he is great X's and O's coach, people are saying he finally has the talent, I don't think a little consistency is too much to ask. If we want more than 3k people to show up at games, stop crapping the bed. The price of cajun entertainment has gone way up across the board, people are gonna spend it wisely.
