Thread: Tail Gate Spot Parking Policy (merged)

Early adopters are worth more than money.

In essence they created the value.

I agree that we should have a safe tailgating environment. Aside from that, I find your complaining irritating. If you tailgate and are able to bring your own supplies in and out, and it's not a problem to walk 50 or 100 yards in and out with your stuff, GREAT! I'm happy for you!
It's a totally different story when 2 or 3 people are responsible for putting the whole thing together for 30 or more people.
Our tailgate routine looks something like this:
    1) set up tents on Friday afternoon
    2) arrive at tailgate spot between 9-10 Saturday morning
    3)
    a) set up/cook/enjoy the time with family and friends at our spot and others
    b) about 45 minutes before kickoff: lock up valuables (tv/dish, ice chests, chairs). We pack the tables and BBQ grill post game.
    4) hang out for high 5's with the team as they make thier way around the field.
    5) post game we usually stay and tailgate for at least an hour as we make sure we don't forget anything.

The solution to the only (maybe) problem is to close the tailgating area to moving vehicles at a set time (noon). AND ENFORCE IT! There's no good reason to dictate to this degree what people can put in a space that they paid for. I know there's a waiting list. And I believe the real reason this "issue" is being addressed is because there are people that want to put "parking spots" to better use. I'd like to have season tickets to Saints games, but can I boot someone from thier seats because they done stand up and get crunk? Or because they do? NO.
Again, if someone can carry thier things in and out, great. If these new rules stick, we will see tailgating numbers and game attendance numbers go down.

We will shatter our attendance average with these new rules. People will adapt. Find 30 new friends if they can't understand that they now need to help. If people put aside their personal inconveniences, they know this has to be done. Nobody is trying to boot anyone from anything. Actually, the university can tell you exactly what you can and can't put in your spot that they own and are renting to you. This is not your property. You can't have live bands, bonfires etc...now you can't have vehicles.

I don't mind being priced out of my current spot, but i hope not lose one due to their stupidity. If the band wagoners keep coming, they better be smart and open up more reserved tailgating lots.

NW corner of congress & Cajun dome, right next to UMC?
    Intramural fields?
    Blackham?

Except for your conclusion which you used as your introduction almost everything you just said is 100% true.

It is their right to make changes, (as long as it doesn't break fundamental right and wrong principals) and the only time to "question" the changesit is before implementation.

Even if the rule makers never tailgated a day in their life, when game day comes and I should follow the rules as written.
