Edit: I was so damn excited about this that I didn't even notice they called us LOUISIANA in their headline. Holy smokes people!

With the news of our team being the top ranked team in the country, I really couldn't care less about the name right this minute, but yes, they did refer to Louisiana as #1. And another nice little tidbit is that we beat "Louisiana State" in Baton Rouge. Nice work Baseball News!

Right now there's ONE full time member of the Sports Information department. Two interns and one of them can't travel because of a broken leg. We were just in the NCAA tournament and the demands on the SID is incredible. We have baseball and softball to cover, along with tennis, golf, track, etc.

Yeah, we need to take time to do logos and stuff. Jeez.

So our SID position, like our fundraiser position remains vacant?

Hmmmm, what's the over / under on how long to hire a qualified full time replacement?

I've been around since the beginning of the name game. Hope to see it before God calls me home (again).

Simple question...would you like to be ranked #1 as Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette or have a team like the hoax and be named University of Louisiana?

Drop the name stuff and savor the moment...#1 ranking in a D1 NCAA sport ...other than water skiing or bass fishing...

Also, its kind of weird, Houston gets a first place vote at #17 after they lost a game this week to Lamar (who was swept by Nicholls on the weekend)

This is not because we're lower in this poll, but because of stuff like this. Coaches dont have the time to devote to researching teams like the media does. Guys that look at every team up top will know more about those teams than a coach, who by his own accord, will more than likely tell you he's more worried about his own team and the opponents on the schedule. I put a little more stock into the other 4 polls than this one.
