Is there a precedent for this with sports team?

How about if we threaten to sue ESPN...and they say..."Fine, we'll just ignore you."

You don't necessarily have to sue ESPN. Any outlet will make a point.

If a players likeness can bring down the agreement between the NCAA and EA Sports . . . seems to me specific blatant misuse of University Sports Branding presents a better case than a loose group of individuals

From the university website: April 2013:

The University’s athletic team name is Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns®. Teams may also be referred to as Ragin’ Cajuns® and Cajuns. The term Ragin’ Cajuns® is a federally registered trademark and should be accompanied by a registration symbol “®” when the term is used.

I understand that NOW the university wants Athletics to be knows as Louisiana. I get it. They might want to update their own website information to have that known. See what i mean Turbine? If the university can't get it right, how does anyone expect the media to get it right.

    And that's where it's frustrating..

I agree when I say "Martin Hall" is the problem, I mean "The University" is it's own worst enemy. ESPN is only the visual manifestation of the marketing snafu.

Change the title of thread to "another name issue thread."

Fans of other universities in Louisiana are mocking the fact that the UL fans thought the Cajuns were ranked.

Need they be reminded that the best record in the state resides in Lafayette, LA?
