That, is a new low. No one is jerking anyone's chain, it was a mistake, a really bad mistake, but a mistake. AP did take care of it asap . I would suggest, and this is a perfect opportunity to do so, send your emails to the Communications and Marketing Office.

    The email is communications@louisiana.edu....web page, http://<br /> http://communicationsa...ding-licensing

There is someone on staff there who is "in charge" of marketing athletics. The office is involved with all the things we've talked about as far as the name is concerned. Yes, the SID does his part, but I think if this office would offer up some muscle as far as the misuse of all things ragin cajun, you might get some traction. A huge part of what that office should be doing is protecting the university brand. With what I've seen lately, I'd fire all of em.

Go ahead and send your email. I sent one last week and have yet to get a reply. I posted it in another thread. That email goes straight to Aaron Martin, head of the office. (this is a university office, not an academic office)

BTW, SciFi network had a movie on the other night, "Ragin Cajun Rednecks something, rabble) I wonder if the use of our team name was approved?...ah, I would guess that answer is no.

The joke is on us. Too many nicknames, too many name changes, too many changes to our mascot, etc.

Disagree. We still haven't changed our name as many times as LSU. Difference is we have several entities working to oppose us and a conference that at best does nothing to help us. And our own admin has its share of responsibility as well

ONE mascot change and ONE nickname Change.

Many point in time Spirit leaders on the time line.

None of those have anything to do with current marketing woes.

Also it isn't the name change per say, rather it is Martin Halls relentless focus on "Lafayette" that is causing the national fumble.

You have been singing that song for several years now. It is as true today as it was the first time you said it. Unfortunately it seems our admin and marketing people are tone deaf

For those of you that think the name thing isn't a big deal, here's exhibit A. And that's is happening on almost a weekly basis.

And for the gentlemen that assumes we'd be laughed out of court; that is not the case. On several occasions this institution has been misrepresented and embarrassed by people not doing their jobs, or blatantly skewing our identification. Even a hint of legal action pointed in that direction, and I bet some asses get tightened up.

You can't consistently get a companies name wrong. Especially in high stakes college athletics. You think McDonalds would let it slide if they were commonly referred to in magazines and newspapers as MCDoogles; and then rather than their Golden Arches beside the listings, a have maroon W?!

McDonald's has ONE name, used in ALL locations. McDonald's has ONE major character associated with its corporate identity named Ronald for all of years in business. How many names does ULL have? UL, ULL, UL-L, UL-La, Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns, Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, Louisiana. Have been the bulldogs, along with the Chicken, Cajunman, the Pepper, had a Bulldog with the name of Ragin Cajun, etc. Its no wonder the media and anyone else outside of Cajun Field doesn't know what to call the university anymore.

Not true their real FULL name is "McDonald's Corporation"

Their stores have numbers and every store gets to go by 'McDonalds' even though no store by itself really is "McDonalds"

They have had various names through the years. McDonald’s Bar-B-Q, McDonald's Famous Hamburgers, McDonald’s Speedee Service System, McDonald’s Drive-Thru, McDonald's Restaurants. Some locations incorporating several of the above.

"Louisiana" has been the one constant throughout UL's history.

Yea because the SID hasn't send letters for official name use. Companies evolve and change names, logos, etc. When said company makes a change in policy, consumers, publications, other companies are obligated to refer to them correctly. I'm sure there is precedent for this very issue.
