Its over.
K State just ran the ball down the field and Cajun D never even got them to a third down situation.

Ok, so now is the time to talk. I agree. Coach Stewart was defensive genius. How he got the blame for any shortcomings last season is beyond my mind. he had these guys ready to play, but called the defensive schemes which were dicdtated to him to call. I have a lot of respect for Hud as anybody who's heard me opine on here knows. But if he's made one mistake in his tenure here, it's getting too much into the defensive side of the football. I think he likes being to conservative on defense. Being to scared to give up the big play is a guaranteed recipe to giving up a ton of little plays. You can play conservative and stretch the field against the Sunbelt and win consistently. Against power conference teams you are the underdog. There is no reason not to go for broke at every single chance. Hud is good at doing that on offense. Not good on defense. Just a fact of life.
I actually said this in the game thread.
Last year I thought that the 10-15 yard cushion on all of the opponemts recievers was Stewart's scheme.
Now we have Willis, an entirely new DC, and are still giving the recievers this huge cushion and allowing them to play catch for 6-12 yard gains every down.
If this in fact is Hud's scheme and he is not willing to let his DC implement their own tactics this will be a roadblock to the major success that we all want for our Ragin Cajuns.
Like many of you, I'm concerned about this year. Just not sure what to expect right now Way too slow coming out of the gate! HATE the soft coverage. BUT, liked their character in the 2nd half. It could have gotten way out of control, but they kept competing. Need a huge effort next week to get some momentum going!
At this rate… Seems like the good news is we may have Hudspeth for the next 10 to 12 years… Or is that good news?…
Ok guys. it is now time to give the schedule maker his just credit. Whoever madeout this schedule should never be allowed to schedule another season of any kind. Period. I stated this months ago and reviled for it. i wonder where the defenders of this wonderful schedule are tonight?
I don't like the schedule either BK, but this lost was not because of the schedule. One of the goals this team had, and Coach Hud stated it, was to get into the top 25. These two games provided the opportunity for that. There is no way a team in the SBC will get ranked by just beating the teams in the SBC. These games were not even against top 25 teams and were winnable games that could gain respect for the program. It didn't happen, UL will not achieve the top 25 goal this year, but there are many other goals they can still reach if the team improves.
I like your takes and your rants big daddy, but i have to completely disagree with you on this point. Neither one of these games was winnable. As a matter of fact, the Cajuns could not have caught either one of these teams at a worse time. There was no way in hell either of these teams was going to allow an upstart like UL come in and reembarrass them after the previous embarrassments with their tradition and history. This is where understanding tradition and history are so important. UL would have been much, much better off both financially and especially competitively playing a round robin with schools like Tech, USM, and UAB instead of playing back to back meat grinder games against power conference teams after previous embarrassments.
Arkansas was tough after the year that they had in 2012....Kansas St might have been gotten if we were their first game
Suck!
That's about the only thing that comes to mind when I recount Arkansas and Kansas State games. Period.
