Never said I was happy with the number 96 ranking, but it means nothing, it's a number. What I did say was that the guys overall assessment wasn't really off base.

You can't simply look at numbers. Football is not always a numbers game. While it is certainly interesting that the statistics didn't necessarily add up to such a huge turnaround, to me it shows what can happen if you believe. I'm looking for the team to continue defying the odds until such a time that we simply have the kind of team that everyone expects to win.

I would agree with Crapdaddy. We won some close games last year and the crazy comeback against ULM. It's tough to reproduce that type of magic on a year to year basis and if our defense doesn't improve, I don't know if the wins will come as easily. We had FAU, FIU and San Diego State ready to be put away and almost lost all of those games due to poor defense and an inability to get a stop. ULM also required a near miracle finish to pull out the win. Our D will have to be more consistent this year and we will have to find a couple of guys to duplicate the pass rush we had last year in order to start holding people under 30 points.

When someone comes on here and starts immediately blurting out the "for those of you who accept mediocrity" (note its not medericrocy), it tends to go the wrong way. Had you been around a little longer, I think you'd know that's a load of crap.
