I agree. The last thing any supporter of any so-called 'minor' sport should do is criticize another 'minor' sport. All are in the same boat, in that MOST fans don't care whether we even play them.

Dude we are considered a mid-major proram for all sports. That's reality. I absolutely agree with you that UL softball is considered in a class with the elite softball programs. Nineteen top 25 teams since 1990, but lets not think that this has been an easy feat. What the Lotief's and UL Softball players acomplish year in and year out is amazing in my mind.
I'm agreeing with you except I think certain sports can break out from the pack at certain schools. So I disagree with "all sports" always. (not that you said always)
There are openings to be had in that there are schools at what are considered Majors who don't even field a softball team.
Old examples and it predates the term but in the world of weight lifting, UL was the Nations Premier program in the 1960's not a mid major by any stretch. Gymnastics-Trampoine is another, in the sixties and seventies UL had the worlds premier program. Back in the 40's UL was a major player in the Boxing world.
But I agree with you, by most "we are considered a mid-major proram for all sports" however perception is not reality, at least not in Softball.

Ha. I think it's acceptable for the Lotief's to tell the team this in a pep talk... but in no way do we fans have any place in raising expectations of our softball program. We're beyond blessed in that regard. I could only wish that all of our other programs could climb as high on their respective ladders as our softball program.
