I agree, Tank. I don't care if LSU were 8 and UL 7th or 9th, they are going to the same regional. It's all about geography in softball.
I realize that UNT has struggled this year but they have wins over
UL, Ole Miss, Baylor and Mizzou....All very good teams
FIU has wins vs:
UL, Memphis and Ga Tech (twice)
The SBC is not weak by any standards, it is not the SEC or PAC 10, but this is not a weak conference. We currently have 7 of the 9 teams with winning records. I don't know where our conference RPI is, but I would venture to say it is pretty high.
How many years do we have to go to BR for a regional and win it before NCAA realizes they shouldn't host with us in the regional too? Lol

How do you play .500 ball and stay ranked? By having 8 teams in your conference ranked at the beginning of the year. And then constantly re-applying value to that. They swept a series from the #1 team. WooHoo! When Alabama goes to California and sweeps UCLA, Arizona, & Arizona State, then they would deserve to be # 1. SEC power from football is reflected on to everything else by the assumption of everybody else that votes for this ____. They have a very good conference, but what would the RPI of the other members of our conference be if we started out the season as # 1?? You can't tell me that Alabama can't afford to go play the PAC 10 before conference starts. We also beat Alabama!! RPI based on rankings at the beginning of the year for schools that play as weak a schedule as possible before conference is a self perpetuating mistake. The SEC may have the overall #2 conference, but if you put 6 of our conference teams in regionals, the odds are better that someone will get hot and break through. You saw march madness!! The more chances the better your odds and the power conferences and the powers that be know that.
We should have a stadium in place to host a regional, assuming we are a higher ranked team. But, at this stage, doesn't look like we will be able to host anything, regardless of our ranking. How sad that the stadium was supposed to be finished at the start of the year, then by the 3rd week of the year, then by the conference tournament, now who knows when. So, we'll get stuck in BR or College Station or Waco or Tuscaloosa. Pretty sad, actually. What could have/should have been.
