The crowd filled up slowly after the start of the scrimmage and then thinned out in the last period. But these shots from TDA website give a pretty good idea.
This coach will draw 25k minimum per first year. The people around Lafayette are a lot smarter than some on here give credit. They understand that this is going to take a couple of years & will give this coach time because they understand winners. Now next year, the expectations will be through the roof & so will the crowds. I'm talking capacity sell out every week.
Look at the first half of our baskeball season. new, exciting coach who starts off going 3-14. Fans knew he is a good coach and knew he would improve the program, but they still didnt go to the games untill we started winning. There will be much more excitement around the program, but if we lose, people still wont come. I'm not saying people will give up on coach if he doesnt win his first year, but our crowds wont be 25k/game. A decent team will bring about 20k. A 8-5 team will bring 25k+ per game.
Comprende', but, this is a football state & Lafayette is as much a football community as there is in the country. People see what's going on. They feel what's going on. In this case it won't just be about winning or losing to start, but about effort. There are a lot of people who are going to take pride in feeling part of ownership of the new regime & its coming success.
Great crowd of course....
The best thing about yesterday, though?
I only heard .50c being played once and do no recall hearing Cupid at all.
This was awesome.
Thanks HUD for being a fan of 80's rock.
