IMO, Anderson was our best playmaker last year at DE. He was always around the ball making plays. I'm assuming you saw him at LB due to a 3-4 scheme or variation right? I think he's still playing DE. I expect big things from him this year. Also, Hagans may be our biggest X factor. We need big strong guys to plug up the interior to help stop the run which we've been extremely iffy against for as long as I can remember.
When Masson was in, we did not try the zone read whatsoever. When we ran the ball, he was under center. When he was in the shotgun, he threw it. Now, we did pass the ball with Masson under center as well. Majority of the time Gauthier was in, he was in the shotgun and he did run the ball occasionally. He would have scored on the first drive had we not been playing QB's were not live. Not once did we use our previous short yardage play of the QB running up the middle after a fake. The way they used the QB's tells me we will run an offense suited to the talents of whoever is in the game. Defensively, the Red team dominated after the first series. They should have as that involved the No 1 guys going against No. 2 guys. Come to think of it, that is why the Red Team offense also did well. For those that did not know, Red Team was the starters with the White team being the backups. There were some guys crossing over due to limited nos. at some positions. Finally, I think the offensive line overall was much improved over a year ago.
Cajun67, you may not have seen the stats but Masson was 20 of 27 for over 250 yards with two TD's and no picks. If he puts up those type of stats, we will have a winning year. Of course when things start for real, he won't be playing against our No. 2 defense. Following last year's spring game, Chris was very frustrated as he struggled. Our overall offense is improved over this time a year ago. In last year's spring game, the defense dominated and we thought they would be the strong point. Turns out they went over two games without forcing a punt at one stretch last year. I agree that being in better shape will be a big difference.
How did the defense look? In particular the lbs. We're replacing two spots. Did the transfer from Arkansas play? Will he start? How about the true freshman ?

View from the grass in the corner of the endzone.
My guess was 6K. Can't see the upper deck but there were lots of folks there too.

With those two, Surgent, Goodlet (if he stays healthy), Green, and some others like Joesph and Hill, we will have one of the best receiving corps in recent history IMO. That's the one place I'm most excited about.
EDIT: Also, did anyone notice that huge Receiver? #84 I think. dude is listed at like 6-4 205 and is a RS Freshman!!
