If he grayshirts he can still transfer to UL and receive a scholarship for next season without losing eligiblily. So even if he starts out at LSU he can choose to come to UL at a later date and he will not need his parents consent because he will be 18 years of age.
Here to hoping Mr. Bates decides to come to UL.
Has everyone seen pictures of his girlfriend, I see why he is considering UL. Also a prize like that is going to eat him up being 50 miles away.
T has the interview up on Redzone... Its a freebie!

Aaron Spikes made the Texas 200 on scout coming in at #111. Huge get. This will be first year I go to signing day shindig at Moncla. Cant wait. Poor Bates kid. Basicly was told by Maw and Paw you gotta be a Tiger son, cause we said so! Take the greyshirt, get your legal rights at 18, and tell maw and paw to get season tickets to LSU like everyone else and come on down to Lafayette. No greyshirt needed.
Glad I can provide breaking news on such a big-time recruit for you guys.
I got the tip about his commitment as I walked into a movie at 7:15 p.m. Sunday. My source said that Spikes had just committed.
Spikes confirmed via text message that he had committed at 7:50 p.m. - his first contact from anyone about the news. For my wife's sake, I waited until the movie was over to call Spikes for an in-depth interview.
His rushing numbers as a senior won't wow you - 85 yards and one touchdown on 35 carries was what I found in my research, and he said that was accurate - but he said that he missed half the season with an ankle injury suffered in the preseason. (He was the team's fourth-leading rusher in 2009.) He later moved to safety.
His high ankle sprain wouldn't allow him to cut like he wanted to, but he said that he's 100 percent now.
It actually depends on whether Bates will sign a national letter of intent. If so, that ties him for one year to LSU regardless of whether he enrolls. He would have to sign a release to go elsewhere midyear on scholarship. If he doesn't sign one, that leaves him open to do what he pleases a year from now.
