Can anyone think of a former Ragin Cajun football player who wore number 9?

Was Damon Mason a good player? Yes. Should his jersey be retired? No. Todd Scott wore #9 and was two times the player that Mason was. Scott had a thick body for a cover guy and moved like a freakin cat.

I agree. I played with both. Todd at the end of his career and Damon at the beginning. Todd was big for a corner but he was good. Great punt returner also. Played SS for the Vikings and went to the Pro Bowl. Damon was agressive and a unrelenting, but a retired jersey? He was very good but...

I agree there is no reason that Mason should be on that wall. Todd Scott was the man.

Sidney Venable of Crowley High wore # 9 from 1974 to 1977. Sidney was a safety and the fastest guy on the team (besides Harold Porter). A quiet guy but a good teammate. He tragically lost his life in a drowning incident many years ago. Not sure of the details but maybe someone can elaborate.

When Sidney came ---one of the first days he was walking out in the Swamp and had a football in his hands --he jumps up over the crossbar and swapped the ball to the other hand---He then runs a 4.4 40 on soggy grass---Coach Lockwood was made a believer!!!!!!! His wife was a sister of a ND guy----Was that an Allemand????

you guys are C.R.A.Z.Y.....If Mason would have been bigger, he would still be playing in the NFL today. THe only thing that kept him out of the NFL was his size.

He was the greatest DB that the AFL has ever seen. I watched him play every year at U(s)L and will say this now just like I said then. Damon was the best cover corner we have ever had, bar NONE!!!!!!! Other DB's might have been better at certain things, but DM was the best we ever had, well deserved to be retired.
