Couple of candidates seem to be athletic friendly..
Way over my pay grade on how this list stacks up against other universities for filling a president’s slot. Strong? Mediocre?
I think there’s one candidate that would excel. And support athletics but would require accountability at a high level. No idea about the others.
Noticed Jake Delhomme was on the committee. As well as Gerald Boudreaux and Julie Emerson.
3 sharp people. Which explains why I’m not on it.
All legislators for the the past 20 years have stood quietly by and either had a hand in gutting higher education or at the very least stood by and watched it happen. This is why we have budget shortfalls and the student loan problems we see. I don't think any of the candidates are in possession of a magic wand that's going to fix all that, but yet that's what these committee members are banking on.
These legislators would not allow any tuition increases across the state for SEVEN years. To not provide sufficient funding was one thing, but then to not allow tuition increases to cover inflation was stupid and devastating.
But can increase fees.....????
Seems they need to do away with this breakdown and just have fees and tuition combined be "tuition"...
Tuition can be covered by TOPS which comes out of general fund. Fees do not. To hold costs down after legislature opened TOPS to all not just financially strapped, costs soared. Who could have thought of that? To offset need for more $ by colleges and still hold down $ for TOPS, our ace legislators held tuition as stated earlier for a number of years but allowed colleges to increase fees. Problem solved. Right.
