Remember when parents used to be proud of their kids using sports as a way to secure a free education? That feels like ages ago.

What we have is for the first time college athletes have some leverage, are working the system. A system scant on rules. Hard to blame the kids for chasing a dollar even though in many cases its not what's best for them in the long term. Is it best for their college education...nope. Is it best for fans....nope. Being content to remain in the SBC with new FCS move ups passing us by on a yearly basis contributes to small time perception image. I'm hopeful new UL president will commit to being highly competitive in this new era and terminate anyone unable to maintain a winning program. Action is needed from the top.

NIL will be the only money most athletes will stand to receive from sports, especially most if not all of the athletes who make it to a Louisiana roster, so, if they do not exercise their NIL opportunities to the fullest, the money they will receive from sports is ZERO . . .

That's how they look at UL -- both the players and the people that are 'advising' them on their life decisions. We're a minor league team where you can get some experience and game film before ultimately transferring to a real school.

According to his father, we should be compiling highlight videos of Montrell Johnson and Terrence Carter to help recruit future defectors.

Especially if they don't get a degree and work in that field.

I totally agree. Time to have a playoff for the actual “Student Athletes”. With limits or salary cap on the NIL stuff.

The USSC will never allow that as an infringement upon the constitutional right of an athlete to exercise NIL . . .
