Thread: Nick Saban Blasts JMU And Tulane Making The CFP, When He Should Be Destroying The ACC

  1. UL Football Nick Saban Blasts JMU And Tulane Making The CFP, When He Should Be Destroying The ACC

So, Nick Saban is upset that James Madison and Tulane made the college football playoff this season. I'm shocked.

I seem to remember the ACC not being able to get their champion into the CFP because they weren’t good enough in the eyes of the committee. Maybe I'm forgetting how the conference title game ended, when a 5-loss Duke team defeated Virginia in overtime, which then allowed JMU to be selected to the 12-team field.

Oh, right. That's the fault of the G-5 conferences that one of the CFP's ‘premier’ leagues could only get one team in, which then forced Notre Dame out of the picture because of the loss to Miami that magically was taken into consideration on the final weekend.

Little "Nicky" needs to keep his mouth shut! As per the CFP Committee guidelines, Tulane and JMU, deserve to be in the CFP because they won the games they needed to win to get there!

The deserving team argument. Dude, at the highest level of football the "deserving" or best teams don't always make the playoffs. That's the way the NFL is set up!

They have divisions and each division winner gets a spot.

There's been 17 times in NFL history where a .500 or below team has won the division and made the playoffs. Those teams are 6-11 in those playoff games.

Each time that happened, I'd venture to say you had a team that was more deserving stay home.

Did they eliminate the divisions and conferences and just seed everyone 1 through 14? No. They added more games and more wildcard teams.

I can imagine the CFP will just keep altering the rules and ultimately further limit "G6" access and add more teams. Already started it with Notre Dame. Just hours after being left out, ND signed a contract with the CFP that guarantees a playoff berth if they are ranked in the top 12 starting in 2026.

The "most deserving", the "best", the "eye test" is all freakin' BS. This arguing over who should get in is soooo gay. Just settle it on the field like men. But, they're not men. They're whining little _____es that love to stroke each other's egos among other things.

    I truly hate them all.

Could you imagine if they applied the "eye test" to regular bowl games? How many would we have gone to in the last 4 years?

I'm getting more and more in the camp of a G6 Championship with 16 teams. Look at the minor bowl games. No attendance, weak performances. Now go from playing Delaware or Jax State who we can't even beat to Indiana, Ohio State or Oregon. This isn't basketball. Look at the Top 25 where there is a clear distinction in the P4 and the couple of G6 teams. Tulane already got wiped out be Ole Miss and now plays them again. JMU played nobody and lost to the one descent team they played, Louisville. Great record but hardly comparable to Notre Dame, BYU, Texas or Vanderbilt, 2 of which should be in the playoff. And what are they playing for, not to get totally embarrassed on national tv? With the portal and NIL, it is now the haves and the have nots. After watching early bowl games and the game last night with UL and Delaware, it became evident that UL is among the have nots and how far removed UL and G6 teams are from the P4 with the gap widening every year.

As long as they are throwing crazy money at proven players there is nothing preventing the G6 from getting better High school players than the P4.

If the P4 gets better High School talent they will ride the bench behind the crazy money players, and will get spit out when their skills don't develop on time.

There is a way to succeed in the current climate.
