Thread: Wave Defeats Cajuns, 66-62

  1. Default Re: Men's basketball vs 2lane

I guess since our move with Coach Q was towards a low scoring game they figured that the scoreboard would be less important to the whole experience . . .

  2. Default Re: Opponents View: Tulane at Louisiana

Tulane Men Escape Lafayette with a 66-62 Win over Louisiana

    Agree.

One more three 4-13 and two more free throws 13-21 and Louisiana wins.

    ps actual 3-13 and 11-21

The style of player are seeing is an improvement, but we will continue to drop close games if we can’t shoot 75% or better from the stripe.

You are 100% correct going forward but it is maddening that 31% from 3 and 62% in freethrows would have beat Tulane

We were without both our #1 and #2 PG. But I will say this, I am a fan of Meija.

Tulane did the same late in the game. 2 ball screens, got the switch they wanted and went downhill. It will be the same thing every night until we show we can move our feet on the defensive end.
We need to force more turnovers and score off of them. Also, need to get more offensive rebounds and score off of them. We are getting some offensive rebounds but often we are not able to get putbacks from them. Those factors can offset our half court offensive issues. Yes, our opponents have been able to get to the basket off of the dribble drive in the second half of all 3 games. Much of that is due to the switching resulting in getting a guy with the ball an advantage in a take situation. Ringgold is a forward for Tulane. However, he is athletic and was often able to take a smaller guy to the basket. Improving in those situations is a must as we plan to be a defensive oriented squad.

I don't think Bilal will be our No. 2 point guard when healthy. I think that will be by committee as we saw on Tuesday night. That being said, our regular point guard, Keller, is probably our best overall player and not having him made things challenging. Much of his scoring in the first 2 games came at crunch time. Unfortunate he will also miss McNeese game. I also think Elkington (stretch 4 transfer from Tech) will help when he returns. I have no idea when that will be.

Dude, we hit 9 3's in that game. We just shot a poor percentage.
