Someone out in the Ether is listening! So here is my suggestions! So make your suggestions!
To elevate its identity as “Louisiana,” we need to lean into a unified brand strategy that positions the university not just as a regional institution, but as the cultural and intellectual flagship of the state. To truly own it, the university must consistently and creatively reinforce that identity across every touchpoint.
First, the school should standardize its naming conventions. That means dropping “UL-Lafayette” and “ULL” in favor of simply “Louisiana” in all official communications, athletics, and merchandise. When fans see “Louisiana” on a jersey or alumni see it on a diploma, it signals statewide representation and prestige.
Second, storytelling should center on Louisiana’s unique contributions to culture, science, and community. The university can spotlight research in coastal restoration, Cajun and Creole heritage, energy innovation, and rural health areas where it leads and where Louisiana’s identity is deeply embedded. Alumni features should highlight graduates who are “Louisiana grown, globally known,” reinforcing the brand’s reach and roots.
Third, the visual identity must be unmistakable. The fleur-de-lis, bold red and black color palette, and clean “Louisiana” wordmark should dominate apparel, signage, and digital platforms. The goal is to make “Louisiana” instantly recognizable, whether on a billboard in Baton Rouge or a football broadcast on ESPN.
Fourth, athletics should be leveraged as a brand engine. The “Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns” name is already distinctive now it needs amplification. That means integrating Louisiana culture into game-day experiences, NIL partnerships, and national media coverage. Every touchdown, tailgate, and press conference should feel like a celebration of the state.
Fifth, digital cohesion is key. All university websites, social media accounts, and email signatures should reflect the “Louisiana” identity. Search engine optimization should target phrases like “Louisiana university” and “University of Louisiana” to dominate online visibility.
Finally, the university should build statewide partnerships that reinforce its presence. That includes:
• Sponsoring Louisiana festivals and cultural events
• Creating K–12 outreach programs like “Louisiana Future Scholars”
• Collaborating with local businesses and tourism boards
Why did someone take down the UL bush in the NEZ? The jerseys for both Homecoming and the Texas State game have no visible Louisiana signage on them.I’m going to start early so they have enough time to make that decision for next year.
I think this helmet would be a great alternate for next year
Also other things to consider!
Let’s keep fighting the good fight!
