See those folks in the end zones, they're there for Football, not because their kids got to go play on the hill. See that zoning with fences.
We open 2025 in a new Swamp. What is the one and only thing we're gonna hear? "How was the turn out?" "Looked like a lot of open seats on TV." Hell, it'll be the #1 thread here on RP during Game 1! Not stadium, not offense, not bad ass new lighting and audio, but...........................Attendance. FACT.
If you want to hear that, we're good to go.
If you want b.s. about some grand tradition of kids out there on the hill or some newly wed couple wanting to roll out a blanket and have a picnic or some folks are just anti-NEZ, Wal-Mart cops, plate lunches, carry on.
I guess discouraging people to want to attend is better than gaining every damn dollar we can from admissions and concessions.
I can guarantee you that if people buy tickets to Rice expecting to be allowed on the hill and they’re suddenly forced into seats by our UP cops, you’ll see complaints just like the Tulane game where we ran out of water for people to buy when it was a 100 degrees.
Our athletic programs can’t afford that kind of ____ two seasons in a row. Why the hill is such a negative to some of you folks I will never understand.
Ha.
Do you honestly think that anyone on this board is arguing that, if the entire rest of the stadium is sold out, we should still make sure to reserve the hill as a kids' play area?
What we're saying is that it seems awfully shortsighted and stupid to tell people "we're making changes to the hill policy" when there are 15k open seats elsewhere in the stadium
I mean come on man, the school just sold two full sections of tickets to freakin Costco just so the announced attendance numbers won't look so bad in the "new Swamp"
