Thinking of making the JMU road trip on 10/11. Anyone else going? Things we should see in the area?

Shanendoa Valley in the fall is worth the trip
Related, if you enjoy driving (and you’re making a road trip), Tail of the Dragon at NC/Tenn boarder.
It’s leaf season, nobody should be cutting up.

It’s not too bad if you’re going slow. There are some great overlooks. But I get what you’re saying, the inside of the hairpins can be fatal or truckers using 129 as a cut across to Asheville.
It’s beautiful that time of year, leaves on road slow most drivers down. Even the most foolhardy respect nature.
I’ve driven the Dragon, Pike’s Peak (pre pavement), Million Dollar highway and the road to Hana. Only road that scared me was off the main roads when I lived on St. Thomas. Between drop offs like the Million $ Highway, local drivers, and driving on the opposite side of the road, took a month or so to adjust. That’s a whole story in itself.
