There was never going to be an SBC windfall but Louisiana could have gotten $12 mil a year with road games alone and been on TV a minimum of 6 times.
Now that leagues are going to 9 games that option is history.
Still, making money is the better option to saving money, and dividing the State in 3 in the name of saving money is a poor substitute to 3 or 4 money making roads games a year.

If money saving was the goal there would have been an all out effort the last 25 years to play Tech each and every year. Not a red herring excuse only when an opening suddenly appeared.
The deflection is the brand new reason for their invite.
Their invite makes no sense in light of the ability to play them annually in every sport, OOC. Which there was no open effort to do so.
I don't think that is quite fair, but I understand the frustration.
Besides my tangent on how to make more money, all I'm saying is the stated reason for Louisiana wanting them "IN" conference, namely "money savings" could have easily been accomplished out of conference.
The money savings have always been there (unused) for both schools and nothing prevented them from saving money annually.
Which selective fact do you not agree with?
