Thread: Tech to the Belt, 2026

But if it is the same 10k each week but a different 5k each week, over the season that is enough for us to have a sellout. And its more likely reversed at 5k to 10k

What is good for one school isn't necessarily good for another.

We learned that with Tech joining the Sunbelt.

A Tech vs. UL matchup feels like something. It has regional tension, recognizable names, and just enough edge to grab attention. That’s what gets a casual fan to buy a ticket, bring their family, and talk about the game at work the next day.

If we’re serious about growing our base and bringing back the fans who’ve drifted away, we need to stop thinking like diehards and start thinking like the people we’re trying to win back. Casual fans fill seats. Casual fans create buzz. Casual fans are the difference between a packed house and an empty one. And right now, Tech moves the needle more than most want to admit.

That isn’t just for us thats for ULM, Ark St. Southern Miss etc.
You really think the casual fan gives a flip about LA Tech coming to Cajun Field? LO Fin L. Dude, they care less, so to my eyes, Tech ain't moving the needle any more than Troy or Texas State

I’m not saying it’s a massive difference, but a Southern Miss vs. Tech or ULM vs Tech or Arkansas State vs Tech game would likely draw more interest than one against Troy or Texas State.

There’s a bit more regional familiarity and name recognition with Tech, and that tends to matter especially to casual fans who aren’t deep into conference details. It’s not just about rivalry; it’s about what feels relevant and worth showing up for. Tech has that edge with certain fanbases, and that’s why it could move the needle a little more.

The fact there is 98 pages about this certain subject is a really good indicator.

So if all options weren't all that great then wouldn't you add a team that wouldn't upset the eastern schools and possibly cause them to break off later. Like does it matter if it only upsets Monroe. Not like they can leave for a better conference. At the very least don't add anyone. All time blunder just to make a few bus league fans happy

Or perhaps the Eastern schools weren't as upset as their fans make it out to be on twitter??! perhaps

The east probably wanted a team from the east. Screw the east.

Damn the delusion on this board is insane. I guess it’s not really all that surprising that people in our administration including our AD get so comfortable. Sigh.

ULM is all in on Tech! Why? They know it peaks curiosity and knows that it will grow fan support among the Monroevians and the Rustonians when they play. Eventually leading to more fans showing up!
    Not this fan.
