What they can't sale is the lack of revenue sources at UL. If the AAC has mandated a minimum of $10M of revenue for athletes begging in 2027 and programs like North Texas and FAU are at $1.9M and $2.4M, where are we going to get that kind of money? I get it we all want better than the SBC but take a look around what is going on in college athletics and what is happening.

I'm sorry, but there are a lot of marketing directors on this site that have no clue how to raise revenue outside of $2Natty Night and free parking. Sorry, but the fan experience may be a concern here, but everything cost money. People have a whole lot of ideas but very few live in reality.

My guess and it's nothing but a guess at this point is nothing happens until media contracts come up for renegotiation outside of a few reshufflings the deck in realignment. The bottom of the AAC in revenue will have to face reality that they cannot generate a minimum of $10M in revenue yearly to pay athletes and will have to step back.

As the Top of the P4 continues to move away from the NCAA others hanging on a string will have to realign as well. Does anyone believe Washington State and Oregon State will be the last former P5 members to get kicked to the curb?

We can make all the calls we want and try to build alliances, but where is the money? No one wants you if you sit at the bottom in revenue generated and resources. The game is pretty simple now; show you can generate money are they don't want you sucking on the tit of the conference media shares.

We have never been in a better position to appeal to another conference.
I totally agree on the performance side (We are no. 23 most wins last 10 yrs) but there is another side to invites where we fail miserably sorry! The stadium half empty, in Basketball you were lucky for attendance to break 400 for men's (with the new coach I expect that to change) and 100 for women's, we travel poorly, our budget is VERY strapped, so again how can a conference look at us and say they will bring in revenue and raise our conf.?

I didn't know about the 10 mill requirement from the AAC. Given what you just said, it makes the most sense to sit tight in the SBC, add nobody, and collect a few from the AAC at next shuffle. Perhaps we set our own level in the SBC? Could be a nice way to cull our herd.

I assume the PAC and the MWC will be setting similar revenue minimums?

Back in March this was voted on.

I can't find anything on the new Pac, but they are in desperation mode. The AAC is making sure they are cutting the bottom of the conference to create room.

There you go, no problem. Just sit back and wait, three possible replacements are on the horizon that are more palatable than Ruston.

SBC now obviously playing the long game. The PAC is a house of cards that will collapse when the big 2 leave.

UNT, UAB and FAU...wouldn't be bad at all. 2 teams for the West!

The ACC pays a lot more than the SBC. Would like to have them, but I doubt any teams would make that move.

If those 3 schools cannot find the money to meet the AAC (not ACC) demand to spend $10M per year on their athletes, they won't be in the AAC very long. Then they become available.

I would think the wish list is ECU, UAB and UNT.

So the new conference model will be setting a floor on athlete spending? Has the SBC floated a number to its members yet?
