I was surprised Coach Des didn’t get on the microphone and thank the fans for coming to the spring game, encourage them to buy season tickets and donate to the quarterback club. Fan engagement is necessary for a successful program!
You’re surprised he didn’t do it? I’d be surprised if he did. I like Des but that’s just not who he is. Even at QB club meetings, he goes in, does his preview for the next week and answers a few questions then he leaves. He is a football coach. He is not a promoter. I do wish that he’d take some of that pregame locker room energy we see in the videos and use it to engage and excite the fans directly. I think he’s learned a lot in his 3 years about actual coaching and game management. He could learn a little more about fan engagement. Once again I like him and not knocking him for it but that’s just not who he is.
Here you go. GEAUX mark your calendar now.

Getting back to the game itself, it is encouraging to hear about several strong performances by some guys on offense. However, it makes me wonder about how strong our defense will be. I guess a 21 to 16 score is better than a 35 to 30 score in that regard.
I went to the Spring Game - my first - and was impressed with the talent and atmosphere. Concessions were open, music was playing, Band and Spirit were in attendance. Only thing missing was a cold beer and a fall crowd. Got me really excited for fall with football as the main event plus supplementary activities.
After reading the comments about folks not being aware of the Spring Game, I gotta call BS. Around Easter, a true fan would say, "Hmmm, when is the Spring Game? Seems like it's around this time." Then the fan would do an internet search, provided that he knows how to operate a computer or smart phone. The search engine would probably direct him to the Ragin Cajun Football webpage or social media posts with the information. It's a true head scratcher to find that there are people who call themselves fans, but didn't know about this game. Y'all need to look in the mirror before dragging Athletics through the mud because y'all couldn't figure this out yourselves.... Take some personal accountability.
For the folks who mentioned the need for a viral moment, you might get your wish. Walker Howard's sister is TikTok famous. She made a post after the Spring Game that has over 777k views. Look her up as @macloversss.
