I heard Coach White mention a commit by name on a pod cast with Jamarcus Fitzpatrick that was on YouTube. I thought it was illegal for a coach to mention a recruits name until he / she signed the letter of intent? Has that changed or did we violate NCAA rules already?

You still can't mention names of potential recruits publicly. It that occurred it was a slip up. Sometimes they are mentioned to booster groups but it is understood that information is not to be shared on social media when it occurs.

We did lose a player today. An inside player named Leatherman had signed with us during the early period. That signing is not binding due to the coaching change. He announced on Twitter that he is looking at other options now. I can't recall the name of the other early signee. I do know he played this season at Pearl Rives JC. I am not sure of his plans. I also know Derrick Zimmerman took the lead on signing him.

According to a Twitter post yesterday, DJ Leatherman changed his mind and will be a Cajun after all.

Definitely a project. I'm ok taking on 6' 10 projects. If he is 10-12 on the roster we are in good shape. Marlin the past couple of years has 6-7 projects at the end of the roster.

I looked at some of his highlight videos. I question his athleticism to some degree. Fundamentals appeared sound. Coach White must see something to want him on the team. You can't coach someone to be 6'9"

He's definitely not quick, but maybe he'll mature physically and get more comfortable with body. Might be adjusting to growth spurts.

He left the team for a few games around mid semester. I am not sure what Coach Marlin would have done. However, I believe Coach Z felt the team was better off without him and did not allow him to return. That is assuming he wanted to return. I don't know details. As far as I know, he had no physical injury. Perhaps he had one not made public.
