Louisiana adds Lamar to 2026 football schedule

Louisiana, as does many other G5 schools, always schedules an FCS opponent. None of these will be sexy and you might as well schedule a local one in the hope that they will bring some people to the game.

OOC games the next two years leaves a lot to be desired

I disagree. Tulane, Rice, UAB, and La Tech are all schools numerous posters here have cited as desirable future conference mates. Who knows what Kennesaw State will be like in three years and Eastern Michigan is an away game. Missouri is certainly a solid add, hopefully not too solid. If you're going to schedule FCS schools, and many/most G5 schools do, Lamar and McNeese are as good or better than anything else.

Maggard needs to go...scheduling games like this and Kennesaw State are not up the expectations of a shrinking fan base nor the standards of a Football program thst is 10 points away from a perfect season, being ranked and at least being in the CFP playoffs...

Thanks for posting this information. For 2026/27, why not try securing a Home & Away with a MWC, or Big12 or PAC school? Weren't we planning a game with Wyoming back during first pandemic year that was canceled?

Why are we scheduling so many games with MAC schools. Seems like the MAC and CUSA would be better partners. We should be scheduling AAC, PAC and MWC G5 schools. How are we ever moving to a better conference if we don't play these schools? Seems like the SBC is status quo and happy with that. The SBC is OK, but I don't think our fan base feels that way if attendance is an indicator.

We did play boise at Cajun Field and only got 22k in attendance. And yes i know it was at 11am
