Why not follow the FCS model? 10 FBS conference champs and 14 at large bids.
The predicted bracket follows the format of the FCS playoffs with 24 teams. There are 10 automatic bids this year and 14 at-large bids. Eight of these teams will be seeded and receive a first-round bye. Another eight teams will be seeded 9-16 for the first time this fall.
Whatever small school gets that spot, they're going to catch hell from the entire country..
"Oh so Texas gets basically a first round bye against UL-L, while Penn St plays Alabama!?"
It will be interesting to see which school gets that spot, because I personally believe it will be the last for the non-P2 faction..
16 teams... all conference champions plus six at large with top 4 seeds getting first round bye.
Well odds and rankings can be two different things.
In order to get that “G5 slot”, the team has to win their conference. I think the odds makers probably have more faith in UL doing that than Tulane.
Now that said, if Tulane does win their conference, and doesn’t lose another game this season, then they’d likely get in ahead of a 12-1 SBC Champ Louisiana.
