You are correct but they THINK they are putting out the effort because online is all they know and they don't think about other outlets. Probably because they think other outlets are obsolete. Most people don't listen to local radio, nor do they watch the pathetic local tv stations or even read the Advocate or Advertizer. We are an after thought on the Advocate and the Advertizer doesn't acknowledge the existence of our University. Lots of people on this board are always saying "we need to do our own production/marketing". Well they are on social media, apps and emails. That's all they have because traditional media in the area is pathetic or in the tank for LSU A&M BR.
Other than alienating and forcing The Advertizer into not acknowledge the existence of the hometown University.... what was the purpose of making the Advocate the official newspaper of Louisiana Athletics only to be kept under lock and key behind a paywall?

I have no issue with social media being a significant facet of what we do marketing wise when:
A. It’s not the only thing we do.
B. It’s done well.
A prime example of B was the 2019 home game against App. Best marketing we’ve ever done. There was a different video every day with a UL great encouraging people to come to the game. The Georgia Southern game in Des’ first year was another strong effort. It was like after putting 7,000 in the seats for Troy an alarm bell finally went off in someone’s head. It’s always standalone jobs well done though bracketed by lackluster efforts the rest of the season and no presence whatsoever in the offseason trying to sell season tickets.
There are basic things we don’t take the time to do. We’re playing Arkansas State this week. We have a long history with the school in Jonesboro. Why aren’t we promoting that matchup? So what if it isn’t LSU/Alabama or some other SEC matchup? It’s the history we have. Did we not love our Meemaws just because they weren’t the Queen of England? I have a terrible memory. Surely if I remember, other people in Acadiana remember Brad McGuire orchestrating a 2 possession deficit comeback in under 5 minutes. Elijah McGuire rushing for 250+ yards on those guys, and their player taking a cheap shot at Quave’s knees after we iced the game. Anderson trying a moronic fake punt on 4th and a mile deep in their own territory and failing miserably. Montrell taking one to the house from 99 yards out at their place. Make a highlight video with those things. The series has a history. Act like it. If you don’t believe it, pretend. Why should people act like we matter when we can’t even be bothered to pretend that we do?
my oldest son who has a ME degree from Louisiana will be in town this weekend with another ME from Skeeter for opening weekend of duck season and will be attending the HC game on Saturday afternoon
any takers to have them at tailgate would be much appreciated
Yes there is and they are doing a great job. Lots more engagement with the Alumni Ragin Cajun Clubs. Lots of engagement with the Deans and students. Alumni Association VP was on Channel 15 every Thursday morning going over what was going on at UL including football games until KADN did away with the morning news programs. As mentioned emails are sent out to those alumni on the mailing list. If you are not getting email, try donating to the Alumni Loyalty fund. Alumni association besides sending emails posts on FB, Instagram, and X. Be sure to like or follow the University of Louisiana Alumni pages.
