Dez still need to improve his play calling. Schematically I love what he does. Pace of play, love it. Personnel grouping, mostly love it. Scripted plays, phenomenal, by far one of the best in the country regardless off conference.

Doesn’t change the fact that we have 3-4 drives every game that’s puzzling at best.

Making exceptions for poor execution, aka drops. I’ll also say there are times where the right play is called, QB1 does t pull the trigger. See the USM post game presser (I think) where Dez makes a statement regarding BW not pulling the trigger.

Napier refused to use the TE, Dez features them which is a huge improvement.

At the end of the day, I want to win championships. I could care less about being bowl eligible.

To get through the rest of this schedule and win the SBC we can not have wasted offensive series. We are the best team in this league and have yet to put a complete game together.
C4L. You are right that we’ve been dominate in yardage and some execution, but one main reason why the score board doesn’t show it not necessarily just play calling - but penalties. We’ve penalized ourselves out of successful drives so many times this year. A second and short becomes 2nd and tractor-ride which changes the play call , which decreases our 3rd down percentage.

Regarding Napier’s play calling he had the luxury of having really good defenses to not have to risk much. Des does not have that luxury and one reason I think he needs to not force the run.
I'm not arguing either way after a victory over a hated opponent. But, if Coach Des is concerned about his defense's performance, he can shorten the game by running the football as he did at Southern Miss late in the game. I think it's more about his call sheet and refusing to change it up based upon where he is on field position. JMO

I just read Dez’s post game comments in an Acadiana Advocate article by Kevin Foote. He stated that Coastal kept the music on throughout several of our offensive plays. You are supposed to turn it off with a certain number of seconds remaining on the play clock. He insinuated that situation may have contributed to some of our illegal procedure penalties. Those penalties caused us to get off schedule at times and may be why we did not run the ball as much as planned in some cases. That being the case, no wonder our guys were in quite a celebratory mood in the post game locker room.

LL2…is he being kept under wraps for down the road? Only 2 receptions, couldn’t find stat on targets.

    He’s a difference maker.

Some of you are underestimating how big this win is. It might be the biggest conference road win in our history.

I was one of the fans that hated the hire and yes the two 6-7 years after being top 25 two years in a row were hard to swallow. I also realize that we will never win a National Championship in this land scape of College Football unless we move up to a power conference. That being said, I felt and feel as long as we can continuously get a bowl bid for the fans I'm ok with the hire. Yes I'd like a playoff bid or a bigger bowl game but it is what it is. I am a fan I will complain just like everyone else and gloat when we are doing well. I support the team, RCAF and the University because I love sports and I am a Cajun Fan. I told a friend before the season I could see Dez being here forever and I hope he can build a dynasty. I like everyone else am enjoying the season but I'm not criticizing the team or the coaching staff. They have all put together an enjoyable season so far. I'm looking forward to the trip to San Marcos while enroute to a hunting trip in Colorado. GEAUX CAJUNS

The CFP slot is 100% a realistic goal. In fact in this new landscape it’s easier than it’s ever been. A “bowl game” is just a step in the path to where this program can be.

Once this stadium is 100% complete in 2027 we will be the crown jewel of the SBC and nearly every other G5 league.

We completely underachieved last season, losing way too many close games. Still made a bowl game. This ain’t the program I was a walk-on at. We had a rebirth with T-Joe and Bustle.

Want to grow the fan base, have LaTurd and Tulane on the schedule more often. Play in and WIN the SBC Championship damn near every year. Make the CFP as the G5 rep a couple of times. The base will grow. It’s all completely in our grasp.

No, we don’t have a shot at winning a National Title. Not unless one of y’all are Elon rich and NIL goes to $15M a year for just football. But we have a better shot of making the CFP than 40 P5 programs.
