Hearing reports of nightmare traffic situations with people evacuating. You can imaging as you go north the gas situation is scarce. People getting low on fuel and cant find gas stations with available gas.

That is my worse nightmare. Evacuating from a hurricane only to get stuck on the road.

Even the Hurricane hunter aircraft stationed in Lakeland Florida is headed to Mobile after this mission. If they are getting out then that is a pretty bad omen for what they expect,

An aside note: The corps of engineers moved their operations from New Orleans to Vicksburg Mississippi before Katrina. I guess they knew.

I imagine for the crew it's just another day at the office, but I don't know if I'd be up for this flight.

This was the storm surge from Ian at Ft Myers a couple of years ago.

I guess its probably normal but I could not imagine bouncing around that much. Or the feeling when you get out of the hurricane and the ride stabilizes.

Years ago a friend of mine died when her plane disintegrated over the Gulf of Mexico due to storm turbulence, not even a hurricane.

She was coming home from a scuba diving trip.

I know the storm chaser plane is much more structurally sound but thinking about it still freaks me out.
